Rocamadour

Today we drove up to Rocamadour, about 1.5 hours north of us in the Lot Department.  We had never been up there and heard it was stunning.  We want to take the kids there this summer, so we had to do a bit of recon.

Unfortunately it was a cloudy gray day, but the village is beautiful.  We had lunch at Chez Anne-Marie a little restaurant in the village and then walked up and around the village and visited the church.  I'm sure the kids will love it, as it's built into the limestone walls and is amazing!

I love small French mountain villages there are so many to discover.
That statue reminds me of Sally in A Nightmare Before Christmas.

I'm not sure I'd call this a mountain village, it's up on the causse but there aren't many mountains around, just valleys and hills. But you are correct, there are so many around our area. Tiny little gems just waiting to be discovered. Unfortunately this one is a big tourist destination because of the pilgrimage. We hear the summers are just mad! The statue was just laying beside the church, they are do some restoration and so she was taken apart. I think she's just beautiful.
