An afternoon in Cordes sur Ciel

Approaching Codres sur Ciel

Yesterday was another beautiful day here in France (oh how I love saying that).  We have had 15 days of clear blue skies and warm temps.  We decided to be tourists for an afternoon and packed a picnic lunch and the dogs into the car and headed south to Cordes sur Ciel.  It's only 30 minutes from our house, on a very windy road (Stella and I usually get a bit car sick as Bruce drives our little car really fast around the corners).  We have been to the village many times, but we have never actually walked up to the top.

I was pleasantly surprised.  It was beautiful.  Cobble streets, tiny turns here and there and a huge arcade (halle - which is a covered square) at the top where we stopped for a café.  The views you get are spectacular. It was very quiet as it was a Monday and it's not tourist season.  We roamed around and took lots of pictures and had a lovely afternoon.

Then on the way home we went by our "little neighbors".  I just love these goats, we drive or ride by them all the time.  Sometimes when we are on the bikes we stop to pet them.  When you stop they all come running across their little field to the fence.  Bruce thinks they look "Satan" like because of their eyes (the slits are horizontal instead of vertical).  But this time I noticed 2 little babies so we had to pull over to see them.  They were the cutest things and when they would nurse their tails moved back and forth super fast.  I think I have to add a couple goats to my "if i lived here full time I'd have to have a...." list.

we pass this old structure all the time, Bruce took this shot.

As I'm writing this, it's 9:00 am on Tuesday.  I skipped French class this morning, just didn't feel like going.    We have to take the car in to get it checked out because we are driving it to Belgium in 2 weeks and we want to make sure it's in tip top shape and ask our mechanic if he thinks it will make it - remember it's a 1985 Peugeot station wagon, "Claude" is what we call it. The weather forecast said sunny skies, but it's raining.  WHAT?   I've been so happy with sun and warm.  I'm hoping it will be short and the sun will come out.  If not, it's going to be a gym day.

That sky looks amazing. In fact, your entire life looks amazing.

I hope Claude passes his medical and the sun comes out soon.

I would love to go to Belgium, just to go to the movies. I love Belgian films!

Lovely photos of your environs and the goats are very cute.

It looks like you had lovely weather. We went to Cordes a few years ago and didn't have the sun. I was struck by the blue doors too. Here are the posts I wrote about it:

How the hell you two will manage dealing with coming back aux Etats-Unis after getting to see this stuff is beyond me.

OMG OMG OMG those baby goats!! I love goats, and the babies are beyond cute. We're getting some better weather than we were having here in Trento, but not as nice as yours. BTW, such a good decision you made, to stay put instead of going back to LA when you didn't really have to. Enjoy the sun and good riding.
